This book should persuade us all to eliminate wheat from our diet. It is an unhealthy whole grain! Although the cardiologist author is guilty of a little hyperbole, he makes an excellent case that consumption of wheat is the main cause of obesity and diabetes in the United States, along with other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and many skin disorders. Wheat is the only grain that crosses the blood-brain barrier, which causes appetite stimulation and an addictive response in the brain. The author presents scientific data explaining his thesis and case histories showing disease resolved once wheat consumption is halted. Immediate weight loss occurs when wheat is eliminated from the diet and obesity disappears along with the inflammation it causes. Diabetes and cardiovascular disease are then reversed.
